Public Inquiry to start in May 2003

The Public Inquiry is expected to last many months
On 3rd December East Sussex and Brighton and Hove Councils announced that the Public Inquiry into the draft Waste Local Plan will commence on Tuesday 13th May 2003.

At the Public Inquiry, a government appointed inspector will examine all the objections made to the Plan during the two statutory stages.

The public Inquiry is expected to take several months.  At the end of this stage the inspector will issue a report in which any modifications to the Plan that he considers necessary will be set out.

The Waste Local Plan still includes Mountfield as an area of search for an Incinerator and Waste Sorting Plant, despite the fact that this contravenes official Planning Guidelines.  The Mountfield Heritage Group will be mounting a strong attack on this part of the Plan at the Inquiry.
