Councils vote to ignore
objections

Reaction to the news from the
Mountfield Heritage Group

On 24 October 2002, the Environment Committee of
Brighton & Hove City Council agreed with the decision of East
Sussex County Council (Cabinet meeting 24 September) not to make any
further changes to the draft Waste Local Plan.
The previous draft will therefore go before the Public Inquiry,
scheduled to start in late Spring 2003.
This version of the plan still identifies Mountfield as an
"Area of Search" within which an incinerator could be
built.
This decision was reached despite 5,500 objections to the Second
Deposit of the Waste Local Plan received earlier this year!
